#NCCUWBB Wraps Up Non-Conference Play Monday


DURHAM, N.C. – After seven consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) games, the North Carolina Central University women's basketball team steps out of league play for one last non-conference game at Johnson & Wales University on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
 
Fans who cannot attend the game in the Wildcat Center, can listen to the contest on the NCCU Sports Network, with Mike Wood on the air for the play-by-play. State are also available (no video).

SERIES: The two teams split last year's season series with the home team winning each contest. NCCU won the first encounter in Durham, 59-48, on Feb. 2 but then lost in Tallahassee, 65-58, on Feb. 16. FAMU leads the series 8-2.
 
NCCU (3-16) has lost its last four games after falling to MEAC rival North Carolina A&T, 76-54, on Saturday. The Lady Eagles, who will be playing Johnson & Wales for the first time in program history, will be looking for its first road win of the season (0-12). Junior guard Morgan Jones continues to pace the Maroon and Gray in most statistical categories with 11.1 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Senior forward Tisha Dixon and backcourt classmate Kristin Askew add 11.1 and 7.6 points per game. Dixon paces the Lady Eagles squad that has has six players averaging over 3.5 rebounds per game with her 7.1 boards per contest. Freshman Dominique Adams, who is coming off a 13 points performance Saturday, chips in 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds.
 
JWU (6-13) was unable to win a third consecutive game in its last trip to the hardwood, losing at home to Voohees. The United State Collegiate Athletic Association member will be playing an NCAA Division I team for the first time this season Monday. A trio of Wildcats rank hold the top-3 scoring and rebounding positions on the team, featuring sophomore Vanderia Shackelford (15.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg), senior Donyelle Stuetley (11.4 ppg, 6.3 rpg) and sophomore Jaquana Pauling (9.3 ppg, 7.2 rpg). Johnson & Wales has six players that average at least one steal per game as the Wildcats force their opponents into an average of 21.5 turnovers per game.
