GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior
Tisha Dixon flirted with a double-double to pace visiting North Carolina Central University with team-high totals of 18 points and eight rebounds in a 103-56 loss at the University of North Carolina Greensboro Thursday afternoon.
UNCG set a new program NCAA Division I era (since 1991) single-game record by shooting 66.1-percent (41 of 62). The Spartans third consecutive win to move over .500 at 8-7 overall impacted the programs DI era record books in several categories. The 103 points tied for the second highest scoring output, coming one point shy of the record, and the 47-point margin of victory was third best.
NCCU (1-10) remained winless on the road despite Dixon's strong performance. Dixon's 18 points are a new career-high mark and her eight boards led all players.
Senior
Kristin Askew reached double figures for a second straight time, pouring in 11 points for the Lady Eagles. Freshman
Dominique Adams matched her highest scoring output of her rookie season with eight points and junior

A three-pointer by junior Bailey Williams on the game's first possession started the wire-to-wire win for the Spartans. UNCG scored the first 13 points of the contest and never relinquished a double-digit advantage afterwards. The Spartans made 5 of their first 6 shots during the opening run, while NCCU missed its first nine shot attempts before Dixon finally put the Lady Eagles on the board with a layup nearly five minutes into play.
Askew scored nine of NCCU's 11 points in the first quarter as UNCG's lead grew to 16 (27-11) after 10 minutes. The Spartans nearly doubled up that advantage to 30 (51-21) at halftime. UNCG sizzled the net in the first half, making 21 of 31 (67.7%) field goal attempts compared to just 6 of 29 (20.7%) by the Lady Eagles.
UNCG kept a hot hand in the second half, shooting 64.5-percent over the final 20 minutes to tack on another 52 points. The Spartans made layup after layup to finish with 66 points in the paint and used 18 steals to finish with a 30-8 edge in points off turnovers.
