ROCK HILL, S.C. – Senior forward
Tisha Dixon bucketed a career-high 15 points for the North Carolina Central University women's basketball team in a 62-39 non-conference road loss at Winthrop University Saturday afternoon.
A pair of double-doubles by juniors Erica Williams and Aliyah Kilpatrick led the host Eagles to the coast-to-coast victory. Winthrop (1-5 Overall) picked up its first win and kept NCCU (0-4) winless.
Williams scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Kilpatrick flirted with a triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. They both added tallied four assists.
Dixon scored in double digits for a third time in four games en route to her 15 points. Junior

Dominique Adams were the only other NCCU players with more than one field goal made to finish with six points apiece.
NCCU controlled the backboards, 52-42, with Adams and sophomore
Kierona Morton both securing season-highs with 10 and eight rebounds, respectively. Dixon added six boards and Jones corralled five.

Chantal Thomas inched NCCU to within one at 12-11 but Winthrop scored the final five points of the opening period to lead 17-11.
Williams netted eight of her 16 points in the first quarter. Thomas finished with five assists for NCCU.
A trey by sophomore Jimecheia Banks provided the hosts with its largest advantage of the first half at 20-11 to start the second quarter but NCCU answered with 10-2 run to pull within one on two more occasions. The rally started with layups by Morton and Thomas. Dixon then scored five points during the surge including a steal and fast-break layup to make the score 22-21. Winthrop responded with the final seven points of the half to head into the locker room with a 29-21 edge.
The two teams traded baskets in the third period until a 3-pointer by Williams from the left wing at the buzzer extended Winthrop's cushion to double digits, 41-29, heading into the final frame. The hosts kept the momentum and held NCCU to just one made field goal for nearly the first nine minutes of the fourth period to pull away to the 23-point victory.
NCCU was held to a season-low 39 points by shooting 26.7-percent (16 of 60) from the field, including 18.2-percent (2 of 11) from 3-point distance, and 38.5-percent (5 of 13) from the free throw line. The Lady Eagles also committed 28 turnovers.
Winthrop made a season-high 26 field goals on 38-percent accuracy and had nearly a 1:1 steal to turnover ratio with 13 steals and 14 turnovers. The Eagles outscored NCCU in all four quarters to remain undefeated in the all-time series at 7-0.
Freshman Arianne Whitaker added 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for the host Eagles and Banks dished out a game-high seven assists.
NCCU wraps up a four-game road swing at UNC Charlotte on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
