DURHAM, N.C.- The North Carolina Central University Women's Basketball team struggled to keep up offensively with the Winthrop University Eagles, falling 71-63 Tuesday, Nov. 25 in McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.

Racquel Davis (Brooklyn, New York) earned a career-high 29 points and 19 rebounds in Tuesday's contest, while junior
Tisha Dixon (Kinston, North Carolina) earned a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The opening point went to NCCU with a free throw shot by Dixon, but Winthrop returned with an 11-0 run to lead the game 11-1.
Late in the first half, NCCU attempted to retaliate, slimming down the Winthrop lead to six, at 31-25, with a solid 6-0 run, led by Dixon, who contributed eight points to cap the first-half scoring.
The second half presented challenges for NCCU as the host Eagles shot one-for-eight from the 3-point line and 13-for-36 from the field.
Twelve of Davis' 19 rebounds occurred in second-half play, along with 22 of her 29 total points.
NCCU allowed the margin to widen to as much as 19 during the second half, as Winthrop capitalized on Maroon-and-Gray errors, scoring 16 points from nine turnovers in the half and pulling off the 71-63 victory.
The Lady Eagles return to the court Friday, Nov. 28 to take on the UNC Asheville Bulldogs at 2 p.m. in McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
