MANHATTAN, N.Y. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The North Carolina Central University men’s 4x200 and 4x400-meter relay squads ran to top-10 finishes during the 2012 New Balance Invitational in Manhattan, N.Y., this weekend Feb. 4-5.
The men’s 4x200m relay team obtained a fifth place performance during the 4x200m relay championship. Eagle runners Phillip Barren, Gregory Roper, Jaye Pratt and Brandon Addison completed the event in one minute and 28 seconds (1:28.05).
The 4x400m men’s relay team comprised of Jamar Jones, Roper, Barren and Addison earned a seventh place finish during the 4x400m college relay with a time of 3:19.12.
Junior Willie Calvin had the highest solo performance on the weekend for the Eagles tying for fourth place during the men’s high jump championship, with a leap of 2.18m (7 feet, 1 inch).
On the women’s side, notable finishes included Alexis Sherrill's 14th place performace during the women’s eastern high jump (1.60m, 5 feet 2 inches) Amber Brooks' 25th place effort in the women’s 1 mile college run with a 5:09.96 time and the women’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Ciara Houston, Ashley McCoy, Sararesa Hudson and #La’Creesha Gore# 18th place finish during the 4x400m college run with a time of 3:53.81.
The men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams return to action Thursday, Feb. 16, in Landover, Md., during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
