NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University freshman guard Amber Neely has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for her play during the week of Nov. 19-25.

A 5-5 guard out of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, N.C., Neely averaged 10.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two contests for the Lady Eagles last week.

Against Western Carolina on Nov. 20, she scored 10 points, grabbed four rebounds and distributed three assists. Against Presbyterian on Nov. 24, Neely tallied 10 points, seven boards and two steals.

Neely is currently averaging 6.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest in her first season on the collegiate level.

NCCU returns to action on Wednesday (Nov. 28) at UNC-Wilmington.
