BLACKSBURG, VA. (NCCUEaglePride.com)- The North Carolina Central University baseball team faced No. 25 Virginia Tech on Tuesday evening at English Field, and the host Hokies showed no signs of slowing down following last weekend's series wins over No. 4 Florida State, holding the Diamond Eagles to just two hits along with nine strikeouts shutting out NCCU 13-0.

The Hokes put up nine runs in the first three innings including a Michael Seaborn leadoff home run, a Tim Smalling triple, and a Sean Ryan double. All in all, the Hokies racked up seven runs on six hits and were helped by an Eagle fielding error to put VT ahead 8-0 after two innings. In the third inning, Mike Kaminski hit an RBI single to grab a 9-0 lead for Virginia Tech.

Through the first four innings, the Diamond Eagles managed to get just one runner on base as freshman Jasper Jones (Hookerton, N.C.) earned a walk and tt was not until the fifth inning that NCCU was able to collect its only two hits of the ballgame as both sophomore Ross Plummer (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and junior designated hitter Edward Pegues (Laurinburg, N.C.) both collected singles to put runners on first and second with no outs. VT's Patrick Scoggins struck out the next three batters to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.

The Hokies added three more runs in the bottom of that frame on Matt Blow's three-run blast putting Virginia Tech up 12-0. The game's final run in the bottom of the six to put the score at its final resting place at 13-0. The contest was called after the seventh inning.

The loss sends the Diamond Eagles to 0-10 against teams from the ACC. NCCU (0-28) travels back to the Commonwealth of Virginia on Thursday, April 8 to battle the Lancers of Longwood University. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. at Lancer Stadium in Farmville, Va.
