GREENVILLE, N.C. (NCCUEaglePride.com)- From the beginning on Sunday afternoon, No. 25 East Carolina University flexed its muscle against the North Carolina Central University baseball team by scoring 10 runs in the first three innings to wrap up the weekend sweep at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.

The Pirates racked up 19 hits in the game and chased Sunday starter Douglas Dalley (Durham, N.C.) out of the ballgame in 2.2 innings allowed nine earned runs.

The lone Eagle run came in the top of third inning when Akeem Hood (Raleigh, N.C.) drove in teammate Justin Goodson (Stone Mountain, Ga.) with a single top right field as the Eagles trailed 10-1 after three innings.

ECU (16-8) scored another run in the fourth and exploded for nine runs in the fifth to put the game away for good. In that inning the Pirates scored nine runs on 10 hits in the bottom of the frame.

Once again, it was Hood who was shining bright for the Eagles as the sophomore went 2-for-4 for the third straight day, finishing 6-for-12 (.500) in the series. Blake Murray (Wendell, N.C.) went 2-for-3 as did Goodson at the dish.

NCCU (0-22) takes on Virginia State University at the Durham Athletic Park on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00.
