NORFOLK, Va. - The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team advanced their record to seven wins and nine losses after a strenuous 5-2 win over Norfolk State in Norfolk, Va. Saturday (March 27).
The match began with doubles play, Eagles' No. 1 senior Kateryna Chorna and freshman Olesya Palko beat Jennifer Astbury and Naeemah Brooks, 8-6.
In the No. 2 spot, NCCU head coach David Nass teamed sophomore Chatman and junior Tatiana Velasquez up to defeat Chenge Tsapayi and Ashley Foster, 8-3. Chatman and Velasquez's win sealed the doubles point for the Eagles.

Eagles' No. 1 Palko earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Astbury. Chatman played as the No. 2 for the NCCU, defeating Brooks 6-1, 6-0. Chorna obtained a 6-3, 6-1 win during No. 3 singles play over Tsapayi. No. 4 singles Velasquez sealed the deal for the Eagles, beating Silvia Panush, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
NCCU's win over Norfolk State marks their third win over a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tennis team.
