NORFOLK, Va. - The North Carolina Central University men's tennis team were successful against another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference team, beating Norfolk State 4-3 in Norfolk, Va.

By the conclusion of the match, which began with doubles play and concluded with singles play, the Eagles earned the singles point and won three of the six singles matches.

During doubles play, sophomores Alejandro Espitia and Jose Fabara came together for the third consecutive time beating Keenan Ruff and Jonathan Sessom, 8-5.

Eagles' seniors Stephan Allsop and Bryan Jackson closed out doubles play and earned the doubles point with a default win.

The first three matches of singles were challenging for the Eagles. NCCU sophomore Jack Waissen fell to Arsenio Culver, 6-1, 6-2. Aresnio Culver defeated Eagles' sophomore Alejandro Espitia, 6-3, 6-7, 10-8 (6). NCCU's Jackson lost to Sessom, 6-0, 6-3.

NCCU junior Trey Chatman turned the tables for the Eagles, beating Ruff 6-2, 6-2. Allsop defeated Dexter McDowell 6-2, 6-1. Allsop won his match by default again.

The Eagles head back into action Friday, April 2 for head-to-head competition against Longwood at 10 a.m. and Mount Olive at 2 p.m.
