DURHAM, N.C. (NCCUEaglePride.com)- The North Carolina Central University baseball team left six runners stranded in the first two innings scoring just one run in the meantime, and paid for it dearly as Delaware State University scored all 26 runs in three innings to take the final game of day two 26-2 in the 2010 Eagle Baseball Classic at the historic Durham Athletic Park.

NCCU took its first lead of the season in the bottom of the first thanks to a bases loaded hit-by-pitch scoring Kurt Wilson to put the Eagles up 1-0 after one inning. The same thing occurred in the second when NCCU had the bases loaded and no outs, but Delware State's Shane Foreman (1-0) struck out three Eagle batters to retire the side giving the Hornets all the momentum they would need to score six runs in the third, nine runs in the fourth, and 11 runs in the fifth to put NCCU away for good.

During that stretch, senior outfielder, Tim McAlister (Raleigh, N.C.) blasted his first home run of the season to give the Eagles its second and final run on the day. All told NCCU left 12 runners on base and managed just seven hits in the loss.

Joseph Cobb (0-1) took the loss for NCCU after cruising threw the first two innings, things came unraveled after a few Eagle miscues. Offensively, Akeem Hood (Raleigh, N.C.) went 2-for-5 giving the sophomore four hits on the weekend.

NCCU (0-2) looks to regroup and salvage a win in the 2010 Eagle Baseball Classic as they take on Navy (2-0) who beat Iona 7-2 on Saturday and dominated Delaware State 13-3 on Friday evening. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. from the Durham Athletic Park.
