Final Stats

HAMILTON, N.Y.(NCCUEaglePride.com)- Looking to ride the momentum-filled wave from last Sunday's performance against East Carolina, North Carolina Central University took on Colgate University and unfortunately could not carry it over as the red hot Raiders took down the Eagles in convincing fashion 75-54 on Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.

The Raiders had contributions coming in droves in this contest with the top two leading scorers for Colgate saddled with foul trouble in the first half. With the score 26-17 with 6:00 to go Colgate went on a 13-2 run over a two-minute span while both Kyle Roemer and Yaw Gyawu were on the bench widening the margin to 20 at 39-19 with 3:49 remaining in the first half.

NCCU outscored Colgate the rest of the half to cut the margin to 17 at 45-28 heading into the locker room.

The second half was worst than the first as the relentless Eagles attempted to make its patented second-half run, but NCCU started 1-for-14 from the field in the second stanza seeing the Raider lead grow to as high as 31 at 64-33 with 10:07 left. Meaning, Colgate outscored NCCU 19-5 throughout the first ten minutes of the second half.

The Eagles finally cut the deficit down to 21 as the final horn sounded, as NCCU (2-13) lost its sixth straight contest 75-54 to Colgate who has now one three of its last four games.

Nick Chasten (Raleigh, N.C.) was the lone Eagle in double figures scoring 10 points and pulling down 7 rebounds. On the bright side, junior Michael Glakser (Newport News, Va.) recorded seven assists and just three turnovers giving him 38 assists and just 13 turnovers in the last five ballgames.

NCCU travels down to the metroplex of Dallas, Texas in preparation for its first-ever meeting against SMU coming this Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. (EST) from Moody Colisuem.
