ELON, N.C. - It was a weekend of history making for the North Carolina Central women's tennis team (0-4) as they took on Elon (2-0) Saturday in Elon, N.C. for their second day of competition.
The Eagles began the meet with doubles play, doubles teammates senior Ashley Rogers and sophomore Cameron Chatman defeated Paige Kensue and Daleen Kloppers, 8-3. Rogers/Chatman doubles win earned the Eagles their first match win since meeting on the courts in 2008.
During singles play senior Kateryna Chorna faced Brian Berne, while Chorna took each set point away from Berne. Unfortunately for the Eagles, Chorna's effort could not pull her to win losing, 6-4 (7-4); 6-4 (10-9).
Elon would ultimately win the meet 0-7.
The Eagles head back to the courts Sunday, Jan. 31 against University of North Carolina at Ashville at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the campus of North Carolina.
