Final Stats

BLACKSBURG, VA. (NCCUEaglePride.com)- The North Carolina Central University Eagles shot just 14 percent in the first half while managing a season-low eight points throughout the first 20 minutes in a 72-30 loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies on Monday night at Cassell Colisuem.

The Eagles began the ballgame ice-cold from the field hitting just two of its first 18 shots en route to a 4-for-27 showing in the first half that found themselves down 30-8 heading into the locker room.

The second half saw the Eagles pick it up a tad on the offensive side with the Hokies clearly having the game in hand as NCCU scored 22 points in the second frame falling by the final margin of 72-30.

The lone scorer in double figures for the Eagles was sophomore Nick Chasten (Raleigh, N.C.) who finished with 11 points in a contest where the Eagles shot a dismal 26.5 percent in the ballgame including a disappointing 3-for-17 from behind the three point line.

NCCU (4-16) won't have much time to bask on this loss with the first showdown of the season against Savannah State University awaiting head coach LeVelle Moton and his squad as the Tigers and Eagles go toe-to-toe on Wednesday from Tiger Arena in Savannah, Ga.
