DURHAM, N.C. (NCCUEaglePride.com)- North Carolina Central University showed its resiliency once again, coming off a heartbreaking loss to High Point on Monday, the Eagles outlasted a very scrappy Tennessee Temple University squad winning its first game of 2010 in the fifth annual B.C. Powder Classic, 75-50 over the Crusaders breaking an eight-game losing streak on Friday inside McDougald-McLendon Gym.

The first 20 minutes saw a tight affair between two teams meeting for the first time as NCCU grabbed a 14-8, that disappeared following a Crusader 8-0 run to give them the lead at 16-14 with 10:42 left in the first half. From that point on, NCCU went on a 23-9 run sparked by the patented solid Eagle defense and 16 points by junior C.J. Wilkerson (Oxford, N.C.) who went an economical 6-for-8 from the field while hitting his only three-point attempt and was a perfect three-for-three from the charity stripe. NCCU led 37-25 heading into the locker room.

The second half saw NCCU flex its muscle and pull away for its first win in nearly a month, with the last victory coming against Carver Bible College back on Dec. 5, 2009. Wilkerson ended up with a game-high 23 points, just three points shy of tying his career-high of 26.

For the second time this season, NCCU had two players recorded double-doubles in the same game with Nick Chasten (Raleigh, N.C.) pulling down 10 rebounds, and scoring 15 points for his third career double-double, and Vincent Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) dropping in 13 points, and grabbing a career-high 10 boards in the win.

NCCU (3-15) looks to make it two-in-a-row on Saturday night as they take on The Apprentice School who lost to Chowan University in the first game of the evening 83-58 in the 2010 BC Powder Classic.
