Each month, the NCCU Department of Athletics will recognize one of its dedicated supporters and generous contributors with the naming of the NCCU Athletics "Donor of the Month."

The NCCU Athletics Donor of the Month for July 2009 is Dr. Kevin Rome, a proud Morehouse College graduate who also proudly serves as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at NCCU.

Here is what he had to say in response to a few questions about giving to NCCU Athletics:

1) Why do you contribute to/support NCCU Athletics?

"I contribute to NCCU Athletics because I believe in the program. I believe in the leadership and I know that we have student-athletes who are deserving of such support."

2) Why do you think that it is important that others contribute/support NCCU Athletics?

"I believe that it is important for others to contribute because for those of us who want a first-class Division I athletics program it takes an investment on our part. If we truly want to be competitive and win championships it will take serious investments in the program. We have a great number of alumni and fans who want the program to succeed, but it takes more than a desire, it takes a commitment and the commitment has to go beyond attending events.

I am the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at NCCU and a proud NCCU Athletics supporter."
