DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University hosts Appalachian State University for a softball doubleheader on Saturday (April 25) at Southern High School in Durham, N.C. First pitch of the twinbill is set for 2 p.m.
Junior Kristen Schooler (Mitchellville, Md.) is the scheduled starting pitcher for NCCU in game one, while junior Michelle Ishida (San Gabrielle, Calif.) is slated to get the starting nod for the Lady Eagles in game two.
NCCU (4-37) is coming off of a doubleheader setback against UNC Wilmington on Wednesday, after splitting a pair of games at South Carolina State on Sunday.
Senior Sophia Blue (Hope Mills, N.C.) leads the Lady Eagle offense with a .426 batting average to go along with team-highs of 55 hits, 23 runs scored, six doubles and 15 stolen bases. Blue also has a team-best 105 assists in the field.
Appalachian State (23-25) suffered an 8-0 loss to No. 16 Tennessee on Wednesday (April 22), but the Mountaineers have won six of their last eight contests and have already won 12 more games than a year ago.
The last time these two squads met on the diamond, ASU swept the Lady Eagles, 9-1, 12-0, on April 24, 2008, in Boone, N.C.

NCCU will play its final home doubleheader of the season on Tuesday (April 28) at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C. Three Lady Eagles - Ashley Shade, Ashley Henderson and Sophia Blue - will be honored as part of Senior Day.
