NORFOLK, VA. -- The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University travel to Norfolk to take on the Spartans of Norfolk State University. The Lady Eagles dropped both games 12-0, 5-2 on Friday afternoon at the NSU Softball Field.
The Spartans racked up on the runs in the first two innings with a 10-0 lead.
Danielle Wright doubled to center field in the bottom of the first inning to put NSU up 2-0 in the first inning.
NSU quickly scored eight runs in the bottom of the eighth inning which included a Rebecca Barnes grand slam.
NSU picked up two more runs before the game ended after just five innings.
NCCU only had two hits in the first game. Tia Kirby and Desanbra Franklin each had a single for the Lady Eagles.
Ashley Henderson got the loss after throwing just one inning in which she gave up six hits, and seven earned runs.
In game two the Lady Eagles were able to get two runs on the board in the top of the third inning. Jessica Refojo belted a double to center field to score Desanbra Franklin and Michelle Ishida scored on an error by the second baseman.
The Spartans held a three-run advantage and tacked on two more in the bottom of the inning.
