Winston-Salem, NC - The Lady Eagles took on I-40 arch rival the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University on Wednesday afternoon. NCCU split with the Lady Rams winning the first game 7-3, but lost the first game 8-1 at South Park Field.

The Lady Eagles regrouped and got the bats hot and jumped out on WSSU for the double header split. NCCU got on the board in the top of the second inning, as Jessica Refojo blasted a two run double in left centerfield scoring Andrea Searls and Ashley Henderson. Refojo scored on an error by the shortstop, to go lead 3-0.

In the bottom of the third WSSU threaten with a runner on third and first, but Michelle Ishida struck out the next batter.

NCCU added insurance runs in the top of the third inning. Searls got on with a double to center field. Refojo once again picked up another RBI and she advance Searls home with a single.

Jamila Holmes and Sophia Blue added one RBI on the day as they brought in two runs to seal the 7-3 victory.

In game one the Lady Eagles had 11 hits in the game and scored one run.

The Lady Rams jumped out to an early lead against the Lady Eagles, and took control of the game for good in the second inning as the team scored five runs.

An NCCU fielding error would allow two more WSSU runs to cross the plate and out the Lady Rams ahead 6-0 after the second inning.

In the fifth inning the Lady Eagles lone run came off of an Andrea Searls RBI double that brought in Ashanti Stroud.

The Lady Eagles left 13 runners stranded.
