North Carolina Central University's Christina Harris has been selected to participate in the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics Professional Development Institute.
Harris is currently working in the NCCU Department of Athletics as an assistant track coach and professional tutor in the academic unit. She is a 2005 graduate of NCCU and a former track and field student-athlete.
Harris was one of 20 professionals selected from around the country to participate June 9-11 in Miami, Fla., during the annual national convention.
The New Practitioner track is comprised of a series of interconnected intensive and interactive sessions facilitated by seasoned practitioners who are dedicated to the professional growth and career advancement of individuals serving student-athletes on university and college campuses.
The Institute will address such topics as follows:
· Safeguarding Your Integrity and Navigating Institutional Culture & Climate
· Developmental Advising
· Monitoring Eligibility
· Working Effectively with Coaches
· Coordinating Support Services
· Climbing the Career Ladder: Planning Your Next Move

The Institute will continue throughout the year through mentoring and continuing education activities.
