DURHAM, N.C. - The North Carolina Central University Eagles committed six errors and left 12 runners stranded in a 15-1 loss to the Campbell University Camels on Wednesday afternoon at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Campbell got on the scoreboard first on a Brian Gana single, putting the Camels up 2-0 in the top of the first. The score stayed that way thanks in part to solid Campbell defense and the Eagles missing golden opportunities at the plate. In the bottom of the second, NCCU had runners at second and third with one out and the host Eagles failed to bring in a single run. That missed chance came back to haunt the maroon and gray, as Campbell plated 10 runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, while NCCU left six runners on the base paths during that span, seeing their deficit widen to 12-1.

The lone bright spot for the Eagles on the day was freshman leadoff hitter Akeem Hood, who went 4-for-5 with a run scored, falling just a home run shy of the cycle. Kurt Wilson, Edward Pegues and Blake Murray each had two hits for NCCU.

NCCU now turns its focus to the huge weekend series that will take place against the rival North Carolina A&T Aggies from Greensboro. The Eagles travel to the Gate City for doubleheader action on Saturday, followed by a single game back in the Bull City on Sunday. Saturday's first game is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start, while Sunday's action will begin at 2:00 p.m..

Thursday's make-up with former CIAA rival St. Augustine's will not be played as the game has been postponed.
