PRINCESS ANNE, MD - The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University softball team went on a two-day trip to face the Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday afternoon, and fell to the Hawks 9-6 and 7-2.
The Hawks jumped out in the first two innings, on a Cassandra Carlos blasted a triple to left field. Carlos then scored on a throwing error by Sophia Blue.
In the top of the second inning NCCU's Tia Kirby connected on a double, and scored from an RBI single from Andrea Wheeler.
The third and fourth innings was quite for both teams until the Hawks scored three run in the fifth innings to lead the lady Eagles six to one. The Lady Eagles would not go down with a fight.
NCCU rallied to score four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the one-run lead in the top of the sixth inning.
UMES, however added insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth and regain the lead and take game one.
