BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Campbell University Camels softball team defeated the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University, 8-0 and 26-1 at the Eakes Athletic Complex on Tuesday evening.

The Camels big inning of the afternoon was in game two as the Camels scored 18 runs in the third inning.

Sophia Blue started the first inning off with a single, but was called out for stealing second.

Campbell would go up 6-0 in the bottom of the second inning. In the bottom of the third, the Camels put the game out of reach at 24-0 as they collected 13 hits and tallied18 runs.

Four different Camels homer on the day including a Hilary Wheatley home run which was a grand slam. The 26 runs are a school record.

The Camels added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

NCCU lone score came in the top of the fourth as Jessica Refojo scored on a throwing error by the first baseman.

Christina Melton was the game-two winner in throwing four innings allowing one hit with eight strikeouts.
