Final Stats

ELON, N.C. - Elisa Simonetti, Melissa Wolf, Whitney Butcher, Laura Graybill, Lauren Sessoms and Jessica Margolis all succeeded in singles, pacing Elon to a 7-0 nonconference women's tennis triumph over North Carolina Central in the Phoenix's home opener Saturday morning at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Simonetti stopped Kateryna Chorna 6-3, 3-1 retired at No. 1, Wolf won over Ashley Rogers 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, Butcher beat Tatiana Velasquez 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3, Graybill ousted Maria Medina 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4, Sessoms toppled Antionette Spain 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 and Margolis bested Mari Sinclair 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.

In doubles action, the teams of Wolf and Daleen Kloppers (over Chorna and Velasquez 8-3 at No. 1), Graybill and Hayley Wahl (over Media and Rogers 8-1 at No. 2) and Butcher and Margolis (over Spain and Ashley McRae 8-0 at No. 3) all emerged victorious.
