North Carolina Central University will begin its men's tennis Spring season on Tuesday night (Jan. 27) against the 20th-ranked team in the nation, the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina. The action at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
NCCU will bring four Eagles to Chapel Hill who did not compete against UNC a year ago, when the No. 10 Tar Heels blanked the visitors 7-0 on Jan. 29, 2008.
NCCU senior Andres Perez (Santiago, Chile) is back on the court after missing last season, while the Eagles also boast talented newcomers Jack Waissen (Fr., Hampshire, England), Alejandro Espitia (Fr., Bogota, Columbia) and Jose Fabara (Fr., Quito, Ecuador).
Returners for NCCU are Trey Chatman (So., High Point, N.C.), Jermaine Byrd (Sr., Raleigh, N.C.) and Stephen Allsop (Jr., Beltsville, Md.).
