CHICAGO, ILL - Chicago State cruised to a 68-47 win over North Carolina Central Saturday afternoon at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
The home team coasted to an early 10-2 lead in the game's opening four minutes that resulted with a three-pointer from freshman Natalie Marlowe at the 16:16 mark.
CSU (9-8)outscored NCCU 27-12 to take their biggest lead of the game at 41-15 at the 2:15 mark. The Lady Eagles scored six of the final eight points of the half in the final two minutes, but CSU enter the half ahead by a 43-21 margin.
NCCU(4-13) began the second half by producing a 6-2 scoring drive to pull within 45-27 after junior Jori Nwachukwu split a pair of free throw at the 17:23 mark. The
Lady Eagles would get no closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
Nwachukwu paced NCCU with a game-high 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while freshman Chasidy Williams posted a game-best 10 boards and added nine points. Freshman Blaire Houston recorded seven points and four assists for the Lady Eagles.
