CARY, N.C. - The North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles had a tough day Thursday afternoon. NCCU dropped a pair to Coker College at the Thomas Brooks Park Complex in Cary, N.C. The Lady Eagles lost the first game 13-0, and suffered a 12-2 setback in the second game.

NCCU (0-15) was competitive in both games in the early innings; however, the Lady Eagles committed two errors and some timely hitting by the Cobras proved to be too much for NCCU to overcome.

In game one, the Cobras used a big eight-run first inning for a sizeable cushion and they never looked back. Coker added five more runs in the fourth and cruised to a 13-0 victory.

NCCU managed only three hits in the opener - two singles by Sophia Blue and one by Francheska Pittman as the Lady Eagles never mounted a serious scoring threat.

Kristen Schooler took the loss for NCCU.

In the second game, NCCU took a 2-0 lead when Michelle Ishida doubled to left field to score two runs in the bottom of the first. NCCU had the bases loaded with one out in the first frame, but only managed to push across two runs.

The Lady Eagles had serious defensive problems. They committed eight errors, and that opened the door on some scoring opportunities for Coker. NCCU managed to pound out six hits.

Coker had a nine-run sixth inning to put the game away. Stacey Greene pitched six strong innings as she faced 40 batters. Greene gave up 12 hits, but did manage to strike out one batter.
