North Carolina Central University used two homeruns and a come from behind rally to take the first game into extra innings, but came up short as the Bulldogs of Barton College defeated the Eagles, 9-8 and 11-2 in Monday afternoon doubleheader.

Michelle Ishida, who leadoff the seventh inning with a double scored on a single from Ashley Henderson, to scored Ishida to cut the lead to three runs. Kristina Delgado smacked a hard single over the second baseman head to bring in the two runs. The Eagles brought in one more run in the seventh to extend the game to extra innings.

Barton would take advantage in the eighth as they registered the go-ahead win, after reaching base. Nicole Phipps came in to score on a base hit by Jessica Beacman. That put the Bulldogs ahead, 9-8.

NCCU loaded up the bases in the bottom of the eight inning, but came away empty as Barton took the opening game of the day. Barton was led at the plate by Easter Sales who was four for five and four RBI's and a run.

In Game Two, Barton turned the long ball into a nightmare for the Eagles. They hit back-to-back homeruns and a triple in the game, to extend the Bulldogs lead to 5-0 in the first inning.

The Eagles did try and rally to make things close late, but it wasn't enough as centerfielder Sophia Blue went three-for-three with one homerun and two RBI's.
