DURHAM, N.C. -- North Carolina Central University used clutch hitting and shut down pitching to sweep a baseball doubleheader (3-2, 4-0) from Saint Augustine's College on Sunday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

In game one, NCCU scored early with a David Scott single that drove in two runs in the bottom of the first inning.

St. Augustine's got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Alejandro Crisostomo doubled in a run. Crisostomo later tied the game as he came home on a double steal.

The game remained tied at 2-2 heading into extra innings.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Eagles recorded a single by Robert Landis, a double by Wesley Brown and an intentional walk of Blake Murray to load the bases for Kyle Davis with one out. Davis came through for the home team with the game-winning RBI single to provide NCCU with a 3-2 game one victory.

NCCU rookie pitcher Douglas Dalley went the distance for the win, scattering five hits with 11 strikeouts.

In game two, NCCU freshman hurler Brandon Oatis pitched a four-hit shutout with six strikeouts to lead the Eagles to a 4-0 victory over the Falcons.

Sophomore Tye Gray topped the Eagles offense with two hits and two RBI. Gene Suarez also had a pair of hits for NCCU, while Robert Landis and Robert Grant each had RBI singles in the game two win.

Fidel George had two of SAC's four hits in the night cap.

With the doubleheader sweep, NCCU improves to 6-15, while SAC falls to 11-14.

NCCU returns to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to play Campbell University, followed by another 7 p.m. contest at the DBAP on Wednesday versus Duke University.
