BALTIMORE, MD - North Carolina Central University out-hit Coppin State University during Tuesday's doubleheader, but the CSU Eagles pulled out a doubleheader sweep (11-7, 7-6) of the visiting NCCU Eagles in Baltimore, Md.

In game one, NCCU amassed 15 hits to CSU's nine, but the visiting Eagles committed four errors and allowed five unearned runs in an 11-7 loss.

NCCU opened the contest with four runs in the top of the first inning, but the home team responded by scoring six times in the bottom of the inning.

NCCU tied the game with a pair of runs in the second frame, but again CSU answered the challenge with two runs of their own and never looked back.

Oliver Jenkins, Justin Goodson and Robert Landis had three hits each to lead NCCU, while Tye Gray and Gene Suarez had two hits apiece.

Jerry Matos topped CSU with three hits and three runs scored. Jeremiah Cothiere struck out nine batters in six innings of work for the win.

In game two, NCCU tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the seventh and final inning with an RBI single by Gene Suarez.

CSU's Harry Williams started the bottom of the seventh with a double, then advanced to third base courtesy of an intentional walk and a hit batter. Williams scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch by reliever Mike Cornwell.

NCCU out-hit CSU 9-7 in game two. David Scott had two hits and an RBI in the loss, while Jenkins added a double and two RBI for the visiting Eagles.

CSU was paced by Brandon Alexander with two doubles and two RBI during the 7-6 victory.

CSU improves its record to 2-10, while NCCU falls to 1-9.

NCCU returns home on Thursday to play Claflin at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park at 2 p.m.
