CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina Central University wrapped up its opening weekend of Division I competition with a 15-0 loss to George Washington University on Sunday in the consolation game of the 2008 Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Junior Sophia Blue led off the game with a bunt single and advanced to third, but was left stranded. No other Lady Eagle reached base the rest of the way, as GWU sophomore pitcher Amanda Gabriel tossed a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in four innings of work.

GWU left fielder Jackie Yaniga went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, triple and three runs batted in, while shortstop Katie Terrazas hit 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI.

GWU finished the weekend with a 2-3 record, while NCCU posted a record of 0-5.
