DURHAM, N.C. - The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University will square off against the Lady Tigers of Tennessee State University on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 6:00 p.m. in McLendon-McDougald Gym. Both teams met last year as TSU defeated NCCU 74-52, in Nashville, TN.
This is one of two games for the Lady Eagles before the Christmas holiday.
NCCU (1-9) is on a one-game win streak after beating Texas Pan-American 62-57 in overtime on Dec 5. The Lady Eagles are led by Jori Nwachukwu, who is averaging 14.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Chasidy Williams has chipped in with an average of 8.1 points per contest.
TSU (4-6) comes to Durham, N.C. on a one-game win streak as well, with a 59-54 victory at Alabama A&M on Sunday. Kendra Appling leads the Lady Tigers with 16.9 points per game.
The late John B. McLendon, who is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, served as Head Coach for both schools. McLendon coached NCCU from 1940-1952 and TSU from 1954-59.
