BLACKSBURG, VA - The Hokies of Va. Tech downed the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University, 81-45 on Thursday night in Cassell Coliseum.
The Hokies jumped out to a 9-2 on a Lakeisha Logans three-pointer with 16:05 left.
A jumper by Jori Nwachukwu and two free-throws by LaVonna Hailey, the Lady Eagles gained a spark to cut the lead to three. NCCU had great opportunity at the goal,
but the ball would not fall in.
Blaire Houston, led the NCCU with six points in the first half after dropping two three-pointers.
The Hokies went into intermission with a 42-20 lead.
In the first half of play the NCCU shot 26 percent from the field, and 40 percent
from three-point range.
Houston notches her second game with a team-high of 15 points. From the field she was four for five from three point range, and one for one from the stripe. Nwachukwu had 14 points and six rebounds for the Lady Eagles.
