NCAT AND NCCU MEET AGAIN; AGGIES DEFEAT EAGLES, 3-1

GREENSBORO, NC - The I-85 rivalry continued as the Eagles of North Carolina Central University and the Aggies of North Carolina A&T State University meet again, this time in women's volleyball. The Aggies defeated the Eagles 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 25-20) Tuesday night at Moore Gymnasium.

The Aggies and Eagles split the first two matches. The Eagles took a 4-1 lead early in the third match, as the Aggies slowly crept back to cut the Eagles lead within three points, until a Janae Mitchell kill gave the Aggies a 23-22 lead. With an attack error and a kill by the Eagles, that cut the lead to 23-24 Aggies. A Janae Mitchell's kill gave the Aggies the advantage in match three.

The Aggies took a commanding 7-1 lead in the forth, and led match four 22-9, until the Eagles would rally late to score six straight points, but NCAT'S Avignon Williams' kill gave the Aggies the victory.

NCCU was led by Avaniki Campbell and Nadia Hayes each had 13 kills. Ashley Shade had a match-high of 36 assists. Defensively, Rachel Lloyd led the match with 15 digs.

The Eagles had a 102 hitting percentage on 43 kills, while the Aggies had a .148 hitting percentage.

NCAT was led by Janae Mitchell with 13 kills.
