CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina University amassed 373 yards of total offense to cruise past the visiting Eagles of North Carolina Central University, 35-10, at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.

CCU sophomore quarterback Zach MacDowall threw for 158 yards and three touchdowns on 13-of-22 passing, while senior running back Arthur Sitton ran for 100 yards and a touchdown on just six carries, an average of 16.7 yards per rush.

As a team, the Chanticleers rushed for 215 yards on 39 attempts for an average of 5.5 yards per carry.

NCCU (1-6) managed 215 total yards with only 39 yards rushing on 26 attempts.

In his first college start for the Eagles, rookie quarterback Michael Johnson completed 14-of-26 passes for 176 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown connection with senior receiver Wayne Blackwell.

Blackwell finished with six catches for 89 yards and a score, while Deshawn Spears had four receptions for 26 yards for the Eagles.

The NCCU defense was topped by senior linebacker Troy McConico with 10 tackles, including 2.5 hits for a loss with a sack. Sophomore Donald Laster chipped in 9 stops with a sack and three quarterback hurries, while senior linebacker Alex Winters added eight tackles.

The CCU defense was paced by Desmond Steward with 11 tackles.
