DES MOINES, IOWA - North Carolina Central University committed a season-high 31 turnovers and scored a season-low 43 points during a 69-43 loss to Cal State Northridge in the consolation game of the Iowa Realty Invitational hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
NCCU (1-9) shot just 31.7 percent (13-for-41) from the field, including 22.2 percent (2-of-9) from three-point range, and a dismal 48.4 percent (15-of-31) from the free throw line.
Cal State Northridge (5-1) made good on 46.3 percent (25-of-54) of its field goal attempts and 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the charity stripe.
Junior J'Mell Walters came off the bench to score a team-high 12 points as the lone Eagle to net double-figures. NCCU senior forward Charles Futrell collected nine points and a season-high 12 rebounds.
The Matadors were paced by Jonathan Heard and Calvin Chitwood with 11 points each, while Heard added a team-high seven rebounds.
