NCCU VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS AGGIES FOR 20TH WIN

DURHAM, NC - The North Carolina Central University Eagles were in complete control from start to finish in their win over the Aggies of North Carolina A&T State University on Thursday evening. NCCU cruised to the win 3-0 (30-24, 30-27, 30-20) as the Eagles captured their 20th win in the program's first season of Division I competition.

The Eagles dominated from the opening serve, as they smothered the Aggies defensively and offensively. NCCU hit a sizzling .275 for the match, while holding NC A&T to a .106 hitting percentage.

The big guns for NCCU (20-13) included senior Anielle DaSilva, who had a team-high 16 kills and two service aces. Fellow senior Shari Matthews had a 15-kill performance and senior outside hitter Kia Wright had eight kills and led the team with 15 digs. NCCU setter Ashley Shade tossed up 37 assists for the Eagles.

North Carolina A&T (6-24) was led by Aundia Gray with nine kills.

The Eagles will return to action on Friday, Nov. 9, when they host Bethune-Cookman University for Senior Day at 7 p.m. at McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium. The match will be the home finale for the Eagles and will mark the final collegiate match for NCCU's three seniors, Anielle DaSilva, Shari Matthews and Kai Wright.
