BALTIMORE, Md. - The North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles got out to a very slow start, and would never fully recover to a 85-40 setback to the Lady Bears of Morgan State University.
Every player scored for Morgan State. Britney Griffin tallied a game-high 13 points and added a game-high seven rebounds to help Morgan State past the Lady Eagles Wednesday evening in a non-conference game at Hill Field House.
NCCU fell behind 12-4 to start the game, and were never able to get within striking distance for the remainder of the contest. The Lady Eagles made only 31 percent of their field goals for the game and just 41 percent in the first half.
Turnovers continue to be a problem. NCCU turned the ball over a season-high 34 times.
Morgan did do a better job on the boards. NCCU was out-rebounded by only 29-35 for the game, and the Lady Bears had a 13-12 edge on the offensive glass.
NCCU was led by Shanise Blanks, who poured in 11 points. Eight of Blanks' points came after intermission. Blanks was 4-of-9 from the field and 3-of-7 from behind the arch.
