Mike Charlton

Coach Mike Charlton enters his third season as head softball coach at North Carolina Central University.

Charlton first came to NCCU as the softball team's assistant coach in 2002, serving in that capacity for two seasons under head coach Larry Keen.

When baseball was reinstituted at NCCU for the 2006-2007 campaign, Charlton joined the Eagles' baseball staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for one season before taking over the Lady Eagle Softball program in 2008.

Prior to coming to NCCU, Charlton's coaching experience included being the head baseball coach for the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics between 1998 and 2002. He also was the head wrestling coach for the same school between 2000 and 2007.

Charlton is a 1997 graduate of the North Carolina State University, where he was a member of the Wolfpack football team and earned a bachelor's degree in history.
