DURHAM, N.C. — The Lady Eagles swept all five singles matches played and dominated doubles as the North Carolina Central University women's tennis team coasted to a 7-0 non-conference victory over visiting Meredith College Wednesday evening at the NCCU Tennis Courts.
 
Senior 
Jamie Rogers along with freshmen 
Maru Berghaus and 
Polina Sakharova all posted perfect 6-0, 6-0 singles wins to highlight play for the victors.
 
NCCU (1-16) picked up its first win of the season while the Avenging Angels dipped to 7-10.
 
Sophomores 
Sofia Miller (6-1, 6-1) and 
Emily Pena (6-2, 6-3) completed the sweep for the maroon and gray at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
 
Rogers earned her team-high fifth win; Berghaus secured her fourth triumph; Miller got in the win column for a second time; and Sakharova and Pena both tallied their first victories of the season.
 
The Lady Eagles started the day by winning 18-of-19 doubles games contested. Rogers/Sakharova and Pena/senior 
Lauren Mullis both posted flawless 6-0 wins. Berghaus/Miller only needed one more game in their 6-1 triumph.
 
Rogers/Sakharova leveled their doubles record to 6-6.
 
Meredith forfeited No. 6 singles.
 
NCCU will play its last road match of the season in a local match at North Carolina State University on Friday at 6 p.m.
