NORFOLK, Va. – The North Carolina Central University women’s tennis team has been predicted to finish third in the southern division of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference the MEAC announced Wednesday, Jan. 9. All preseason honors were voted on by the conference's head tennis coaches and sports information directors.
The women’s Southern Division consists of seven teams: Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T, Savannah State, South Carolina State and NCCU.
Among the women’s division, NCCU is selected to finish above Florida A&M, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T, and Savannah State, while South Carolina State, who are the defending MEAC champions, are predicted to seize another conference title.
During the 2012 season the Lady Eagles finished with an 8-9 overall record and 5-2 in conference play during the regular season. NCCU defeated Hampton 4-2, before falling to the MEAC conference championships, South Carolina State, 4-0 during its first MEAC championship run last season.
The Lady Eagles kick-off the 2013 regular season on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C. against UNC Charlotte.
