Von Fulmore, a native of Fairmont, NC, was a record-setting basketball player when she was enrolled at North Carolina Central University.
She established the school’s single-game records with 41 points and 32 rebounds versus UNC-Asheville on Feb. 1, 1986. Her total of 636 points and 464 rebounds in 1985-86 both still stand as school records for a single season. She led the nation in rebounds with 464 and a rebound average of 17.8 per game, while also averaging 24.5 points per contest.
In 1986, Von became NCCU’s first women’s basketball First-Team All-American. She made the All-Conference Team in 1985, 1986, and 1987, and is still the only Lady Eagle to earn all-conference honors for three consecutive seasons. She is currently the school’s fifth all-time career scorer, and second career rebound leader. Her jersey was honored in 2005.
