The 1974 MEAC Track & Field Championship Team was coached by Dr. LeRoy T. Walker.  Team members Charles Foster, Larry Black, Melvin Bassett, Julius Sang, Robert Ouko and Ron Ray earned the nickname, the “Super Six-Pack.”

After winning the conference title, the 1974 Eagles placed fourth at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, trailing only Tennessee, UCLA, and Brigham Young, while beating out schools such as Oregon State, Kansas, Southern California, Indiana, Texas, Boston College, LSU and Seton Hall.

During the team’s best-ever finish at the Division I championships, five Eagles claimed seven All-America citations, including Charles Foster’s national championship in the 120-yard hurdles.
