Margratha Y. Chambers served as the Head Coach of the Women’s Varsity Basketball Team at Riverside High School from 1993-2004.  During that tenure, her team won the PAC-6 Conference Women’s Basketball Championship for both 2000 and 2002.  She was chosen PAC-6 Conference Coach of the Year for the same two years, 2000 and 2002.  In 1996, she was the first female inducted into the Ansonia High School Hall of Fame in Ansonia, Connecticut.

 While at NCCU, Margratha was a member of several extra-curricular organizations, among which were the Women’s Athletic Association, serving as President of that organization in 1970-71, and the Physical Education Majors Club.  In 1971, she was voted the NCCU Women’s Athletic Association Athlete of the Year, Physical Education Major of the Year, and the recipient of the NCCU Women’s Athletic Association Award for Excellency in All-Around Performance.

Margratha was named the Riverside High School Teacher of the Year for 2005 and was a finalist for the 2005 Durham Public Schools Teacher of the Year.
