Kenneth M. Handy helped the Eagles capture CIAA tennis championships during his tenure at North Carolina College (1958 to 1961). Along the way, he himself regularly placed second in both singles and doubles in CIAA competition. Subsequently he served in the United States Army and for 20 years in various capacities in the Job Corps Youth Program, National Park Service, and U.S. Department of the Interior. With the Job Corps, he worked in Maryland, Maine, and West Virginia.
