Gerald Fraylon was one of the top quarterbacks in the history of North Carolina Central University football. A four-time All-CIAA honoree (three times first team), he was named co-offensive player of the year in his first season as quarterback. His career passing record is the second best in NCCU’s books, with 347 completions in 847 attempts for 5,794 yards. He is also second in total offense with 6,620 yards, and scoring at 192 points. In passing, his best season record was 91 completions for 1,585 yards in 1984. He scored 12 touchdowns and four points after touchdown in 1981 for a total of 76 points. In 1982, his total offensive yardage was 1,488.
Fraylon holds the bachelor of arts degree in political science from NCCU and the master of public administration degree from Alabama’s Troy State University. After a brief professional career with the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League, Fraylon entered the U.S. Air Force in 1986. He served for more than three years in Germany, and has been an Administrative/Personnel Specialist, stationed at Langley Air Force Base.
