The first in a long line of track championships won by the NCCU Eagles came in 1964 at Virginia State College in Petersburg, Virginia.

Members of the team were Tommy Moore, Coach LeRoy Walker, James Newton, Norman Tate, Richard Mocafity, Gerray Hall, Evans Fraser, Richard Hearn, Andrew McCray, Thomas Norman, Bobby Johnson, Gerald Roper, Terrell Amos and Edwin Roberts.
