Charles A. McCullough was undefeated in regular season high jump competition in 1952 and 1953 at NCCU. He was second in the CIAA championship in that event in 1952, and won it in 1953. A year off in the army saw him winning the Third Army Championship, and his last two seasons at NCCU saw him win championships in the CIAA (twice), the NCAAU (twice), the Penn Relays, and the NAIA.
As a high school coach of Basketball he twice won state championships and held a 386-200 record.
