Andrew Healon Williams was captain of the renaissance Eagles in 1947, 1948, and 1949. He also played football in the 1946-47 season. He subsequently served as a teacher-coach, associate high school principal, and elementary school principal, retiring from teaching in 1980. He was appointed judge of the magistrates' court in Pasquotank County in 1980 and served in that capacity for three years. He also recorded 28 years of service as a lieutenant in the Elizabeth City Volunteer Fire Department, among many other community service activities.
