Biography

Career Notes:
Played 57 games and started 38, averaged 33.2 minutes per game.  Totaled 981 points to finish fourth in the Division-I era at NCCU, and scored 17.2 points per game to finish second on the list.  Also in the top-10 in three-point percentage (33.2) and free throw percentage (75.0).  Finished third in rebounding average (5.9) and within the top-10 in total rebounds (337).  Dished out 261 assists and averaged 4.6 to finish in the top-five in both categories.

As a Redshirt Senior (2016-17)
MEAC Player of the Year, NABC All-District 15 First Team, BOXTOROW National Player of the Year, NCCSIA First Team All-State, and MEAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player.  Played 33 games and started 32 to average 35.3 minutes per game.  Named MEAC Player of the Week six times, and College Sports Madness MEAC Player of the Week three times.  Led the MEAC in assists with 5.7 per game, was second in scoring at 19.5 points per outing and third in rebounding with 7.0 boards per contest.  Scored 636 points to pass John Bishop (1980-81, 625) for the second-most points scored in a single season.  Notched the first triple-double in the Division-I era at NCCU with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists against Jackson State (Nov. 18).  Dished out 184 assists (third-most in Division-I era), pulled down 230 rebounds (third-most in the Division-I era), and collected 191 defensive rebounds, which is the most in the Division-I era at NCCU.  Played 35+ minutes 25 times and 40 minutes nine times.  Scored a career-high 32 points at Northern Kentucky (Nov. 26) with 12 rebounds in the second of three consecutive double-double performances.  Served a career-high 13 assists against LIU Brooklyn (Dec. 6) with 18 points.  Scored in all 33 games he appeared in, scored in double-digits 32 times, and scored 20+ points 14 times.  Collected nine double-doubles, led the team in scoring 22 times, rebounding 11 times, and assists 19 times.  Preseason Second Team All-MEAC.

As a Redshirt Junior (2015-16)
Appeared in 24 games and started six, and averaged 30.3 minutes per game.  Finished second on the team in scoring with 14.4 points per game with 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.  Finished in the top-15 of the MEAC in scoring, assists and assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.1.  Played 35+ minutes six times, including three consecutive 40 minute games.  Led team in scoring a team-best 11 times, and was the only player to score 30 points in a game with seven assists at Savannah State (Jan. 11).  Collected a season-high eight assists at Delaware State (Jan. 27), and pulled down nine rebounds twice at Delaware State and against Savannah State (Feb. 29).  

Prior to NCCU:

As a Redshirt Sophomore (Siena 2014-15):
Sat out a 2013-14 due to NCAA transfer rules.  Played seven games and averaged 8.4 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game.

As a Freshman (Coppin State 2012-13):
Named to MEAC All-Rookie team.  Averaged 10.3 points per game with 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest.  Played 31 of 32 games and started 16.  Led team in scoring in his first three collegiate games, including a 25-point performance in season-opener at Southern California.  Poured in a career-high 29 points at Hampton.

High School (Newark HS)
Helped lead team to Group II State Championship as a senior averaging 11.2 points per game.  Earned All-Essex County honors.

Personal: Parents are Patrick Brinson and Denise Cole.  His goal is to play professional basketball.  Interesting fact: Soccer was his first loved sport.  Majoring in mass communication with a minor in broadcast media at NCCU.
